12th December 2014
The event is quite unlike any other cycling event you have seen. On 17th - 18th October 2015 Ride the Trafalgar Way will offer teams and individuals the opportunity to collectively tackle a 500km ride; starting at Pendennis Point in Falmouth and finishing at Admiralty House in London.
And it’s not just ‘any old cycle course’ either.
Ride the Trafalgar Way follows the historic route of 1805 in which Lieutenant Lapenotiere rode the distance post-chaise (a horse-drawn carriage used for transporting passengers or mail, especially in the 18th and early 19th centuries) in 37 hours, carrying important dispatches to Admiralty House, London with the news of victory at the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Admiral Lord Nelson.
For individuals preferring shorter distance sportives, there will be three independent sportives all running over the same weekend too.
- RTTW Colossus: The full end to end route (just short of 500km)
- RTTW Britannia: Falmouth to Exeter
- RTTW Conqueror: Exeter to Salisbury
- RTTW Victory: Salisbury to London
Entries will open in January 2015, so please do ‘watch this space’ for further details.
