What was your reason for wanting to ride the Trafalgar Way?

To challenge myself. It is the furthest i have ever cycled in one day. i am unable to do multi-day or events abroad because of family/work commitments so looked for an adventure within the UK.

How would you sum up your ride of the Trafalgar Way to a friend?

An individual & personalised cycling adventure

What was your most memorable part of the ride?

The two that stand out were the glorious countryside through the west country and into Dorset and the sense of surrealness cycling along the middle of the Mall with no one else around

What are your top 3 tips for anyone thinking of riding the Trafalgar Way?

You have to have a sense of adventure and belief in yourself… /remember to eat/drink….and split the event into 3 smaller stages of ~100 miles to make it easier to accomplish mentality (like you split up the disciplines in a triathlon)

What are your top bits of equipment or kit you wouldn’t want to ride the Trafalgar Way without?

The hard copy of the maps were good and were used to refer too but I would supplement that with a GPS bike computer(s) (as some of the signs were difficult to see (due to road layout or it was dark) or they were likely pinched… you need multiple lights front and back to avoid the occassional pot hole etc..

What bike (make and model) and chainset / cassette set up did you ride the Trafalgar Way with (if available)?

It started life as a Speicalised Venge elite (so still have the handlebars and seat) but now has a Tifosi Mons frame with DT Swiss wheels set. I was using standard Ultegra group set going upto 32 at the back (11-speed cassette)
