What was your reason for wanting to ride the Trafalgar Way?

I enjoy endurance cycling. Riding the first two legs of the the Trafalgar Way route with all its history was a great challenge. 215 miles and 19,000ft – my longest ride

How would you sum up your ride of the Trafalgar Way to a friend?

Great route with lots of hills and top class signage and support from the Ride the Trafalgar Way team

What was your most memorable part of the ride?

The iconic start at Pendennis Point and over 12 hours later riding the narrow tree lined lanes near Salisbury in the dead of night imagining Lieutenant John Lapenotiere in his post-chaise racing along the same road some 210 years ago

What are your top 3 tips for anyone thinking of riding the Trafalgar Way

1) Get the training miles in your legs, 2) pace yourself well, 3) eat and drink some normal food – not just the gels and bars

What are your top bits of equipment or kit you wouldn’t want to ride the Trafalgar Way without?

Garmin with ‘Power-monkey’ power pack (or similar) - make sure the external power pack does not reset the Garmin! Good lights front and back – October means quite a lot of night riding on unknown roads. Small back-up battery lights.

What bike (make and model) and chainset / cassette set up did you ride the Trafalgar Way with (if available)?

Trek Domane 6.9 Black Disc with 50/34 and 11/28 cassette
