I wanted a different challenge, one that offered more than just a long ride

It provides one of the toughest routes you will find not in elevation perhaps but there is a lot of night riding and you’ll discover more about yourself as an individual.

What was your most memorable part of the ride?

The camaraderie from fellow riders and the support crew, closely followed by riding down Whitehall towards the finish. An awesome way to finish any ride.

What are your top 3 tips for anyone thinking of riding the Trafalgar Way

1) Charge your lights and make sure you can en route, 2) Change of kit – you never know what the weather will be up to, 3) Bring a sense of humour.

Castelli Gabba long sleeve jersey, Garmin to prove it happened, a decent saddle you get on with – it is a long way, good lights and check your tyres.

Fuji Transonic 2.1 2016 with an 11-28 cassette
