A good route, with a great historical story.
A good route through some ofthe most picturesque parts of southern England. The historical story behind the route was ever-present, and a uniquely enjoyable aspect of the ride. Well organised, and good value event with food provided at the right time.
It must be the final Km, down the Mall, Admiralty arch, and then into the Admiralty itself. I had the feeling of hundreds of years of naval history surrounding me (NB: I am a fan of military history novels, so I was also mentally writing my own narrative
Do it, Do it and Do it!
1. Good lights,
2. Waterproof jacket and
3. LIM Essens down jacket (this applies to any ride over 300km, where both these items have made a miserable situation acceptable!)
Giant Defy Advanced 2 (2020), with Ultegra 52/34 chainset and 11-42 rear cassette (using 105 R7000 rear mech- yes, it shouldn’t work but it does!) No one ever complains that their gearing was too low!
