What was your reason for wanting to ride the Trafalgar Way?

After watching videos of Mark Beaumont and Jenny Graham on GCN, during a bout of Christmas Covid, an endurance challenge seemed like the appropriate next adventure on 2-wheels!

How would you sum up your ride of the Trafalgar Way to a friend?

Absolutely the best ride I have ever done on a bike. I smiled from start to finish, even when my wife started singing (terribly) at 0230!

What was your most memorable part of the ride?

Cycling along the Dorset coast, with the rays from the sun setting behind us creating long shadows towards an utterly beautiful view.

What are your top 3 tips for anyone thinking of riding the Trafalgar Way?

1. Do it. 2. Keep something in reserve by thinking about the last 100 miles. 3. Feast at the excellent feed stops!

What are your top bits of equipment or kit you wouldn’t want to ride the Trafalgar Way without?

I used a small handlebar bag to store my in-ride snacks, it had an easy access top flap and could hold a good sized packed lunch making eating whilst in motion easy.

What bike (make and model) and chainset / cassette set up did you ride the Trafalgar Way with (if available)?

Cervélo Aspero GRX 800 Chainset 48/31. Cassette 11-34. Hunt 44 Carbon Disc wheels. Conti GP5000s.
