What was your reason for wanting to ride the Trafalgar Way?

2017: Last year I didn’t quite make the distance so I wanted to put that right! Otherwise I wanted to take on a massive physical/mental challenge.
2016: I was looking for a big endurance challenge

How would you sum up your ride of the Trafalgar Way to a friend?

2017: An epic & thoroughly enjoyable 24hr adventure
2016: A very good route, tough going, very wet and cold but a good experience

What was your most memorable part of the ride?

2017: I rode a good 200 miles on my own some of it at night. During that time I remember peddling in the middle of nowhere seeing a barn owl swoop across my eye line and a deer in my torch light. I also rode through a very dark tree lined country lane with only my front light for visibility, I remember thinking this is awesome. These are the little experiences I valued the most.
2016: The Dorset coast by starlight was a fantastic sight

What are your top 3 tips for anyone thinking of riding the Trafalgar Way?

2017:
1. Be prepared for all weather conditions.
2. Eat, drink repeat x 1 million.
3. Have a ride plan!!! You need to know how you’re doing.

2016:
1. Find the hills and train on them.
2. Remember you can ride further than you think.
3. Have a ride plan.

What are your top bits of equipment or kit you wouldn’t want to ride the Trafalgar Way without?

2017: Lifeline 700 Lumen £40 Front light (an absolute bargain), Wahoo Elemnt (it was thoroughly tested & brilliant!) my Castelli bib shorts were super comfy!
2016: My POC Waterproof jacket worked very well Seal Skinz skull cap and without a Garmin things would be all the more difficult.

What bike (make and model) and chainset / cassette set up did you ride the Trafalgar Way with (if available)?

2017: Eddy Merckx EMX-1 Shimano Ultegra 50/34 11/28
2016: Eddy Merckx EMX-1 Shimano Ultegra 50/34 11/28
